The framing and the timing of it all was unusually suspenseful for a film of the period. There\u0026#39;s not many Hindi films that I\u0026#39;ve yet found that both look AND feel like a Hollywood or European Western. Because I have a fondness for the tropes of the genre and the aesthetics, I think I appreciate KD more than it deserves. Also, I think the two leads have a hard time making up for the BORINGness of Moushumi Chatterjee and her feller in that film. It\u0026#39;s realistic in the sense that she doesn\u0026#39;t fall for the dacoits, but that doesn\u0026#39;t help the interest factor in her story. By the end, you really only care about the two men \u0026quot;reconciling\u0026quot; or something to that effect, you know? It was a progressive movie indeed for a movie set in 1970s. Feroze Khan was so handsome and I really think he did well as a jelaous and insecure guy. Rajesh Khanna made the dhotis and kurtas famous. Indeed even at the height of his popularity he did not hesitate to don traditional Indian clothes to suit the role\/character. Quite a few film heroes were known for their nakhras about these things. I think it was a very good role for Sharmila Tagore. Considering the 2 song 2 scene roles that heroines get these days I think Sharmila had very good female centric movies in her kitty. Did I mention the Safar\u0026#39;s music ? I like the songs very much - each one is different from the other and melodious on its own. I have a weakness for \u0026quot;Nauka\u0026quot; or boat songs especially on the lush rivers of India and so nadiya chaley re dhara is one of my favourite songs from this movie.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EI second \u0026quot;Kudrat\u0026quot; and am waiting for your review. On a recent watch of Mehbooba I quite liked the story of the 2nd hema malini (the tribal girl) which is also the 2nd part of the movie. One can always consider it as two movies in one. The ones that come to mind between main characters are Zeenat and Vinod in Qurbani (which is like a undeveloped romance), Sanjeev and Mumtaz in Aap ki Kasam (which turns out BADLY because hubby gets jealous), Sharmila and Barun Chanda in Seemabaddha (which is almost more of a challenge\/response relationship), Hema\u0026#39;s Geeta with Dharmendra in Seeta aur Geeta (which does feel very friend-y, platonic to me), and then anomalies like Kangana\u0026#39;s three platonic male friends in Queen.
